In many cases, people wrongly think that podiatry only deals with the foot. Nothing could be further from the truth. Also examination and treatment of the knee, hip and vertebral column belong to the field of expertise of the podiatrist.
If the podiatrist finds that other joints may have a causal connection with a pathology of the foot, it is clearly indicated that these other joints are corrected locally, or within a holistic context, by the osteopath.
Likewise, an osteopath may judge that foot problems of a structural or functional nature may be causally related to problems in peripheral joints, back and/or neck. Assessing the gait pattern and mobility of the foot joints is in many cases necessary for the osteopath to make a certain differential diagnosis.
Podiatry practice Podometrix works very closely together with osteopaths.
